1 Samuel Chapter 25 - David, Nabal and Abigail
Nabal was a rich, wicked man who repaid evilness for kindness. He was a drunkard and acted like he was a king. He was married to Abigail a woman rich with wisdom and beauty.
After Nabal treated David and his men harshly; cursed them out one of the servants who worked for Nabal went back to their home and told Nabal’s wife everything that happened. The servant entrusted Abigail to do something to save the household from sabotage. There had to be a background for this servant to know to go to Abigail, the wife of his master, for help. She had to have done something in the past that let it be know she led with wisdom and smart understanding. For a man servant to go back to the wife of his master she had to be a very brilliant woman who handled everything with excellence.
Once Abigail got wind of what happened and what David planned to do she acted swiftly. She had her servants gather up all this food and other stuff on donkeys to bring to David and his men as a peace offering; an olive branch because she knew nothing of the mess Nabal had caused.
When she met David she swiftly got off her donkey and showed her subservience to him. She let it be known that Nabal was not worth having a stain on his life for because he was just like his name and its meaning which is fool...
